3 injured after Japan earthquake

A 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of northern Japan on Saturday.

Officials say that at least three people were injured.

The earthquake was centred 38 km west-northwest of Ishinomaki, Miyagi, Japan

There was no tsunami threat.

Strong aftershocks were possible according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The North America plate, Pacific plate, Philippine Sea plate, and Eurasia plate all influence the tectonic setting of Japan according to the USGS.
