500 People Stranded Following Landslide in BC

A strong storm struck British Columbia on Friday causing a landslide that severed the road to the Sasquatch Mountain Resort standing about 500 people.

Officials say it could be five days before the road is reopened. People are asked to remain at the resort until the debris can be cleared.

Trees have fallen on the road along with other debris and there is extensive damage to the road. Some areas of the road have been completely washed away.

The area saw over 100 mm of rain and wind gusts to 80 km/h.

Sasquatch Mountain Resort is a small ski resort located in the Douglas Ranges near Chehalis, British Columbia, Canada, between the towns of Mission and Agassiz.
