Japan's famous cherry blossoms have bloomed across Japan, the earliest in recorded history.

In Kyoto, Japan records date back to 812 AD. While the records are not continuous for every year, years that have records indicate that this is the earliest that the flowers have bloomed.

Shunji Anbe from the Japan Meteorological Agency says that the early bloom is due to climate change.

It is considered the national flower of Japan.
