Earthquake in Halifax

Earthquakes Canada has reported that a 2.6 magnitude earthquake has occurred 3 km east-northeast of Halifax, NS.


 

The earthquake was felt in the Halifax Metro region and in Dartmouth, although only weak shaking was reported.


 

This is a very weak earthquake.


 

It was at a fairly shallow depth of just 2 kilometres.


 

The area is generally not seismically active.
