February Astronomy Highlights

There is not a lot happening in the night sky this month.

Mars will appear in the evening sky above the moon on February 18th.

Low in the pre-dawn eastern sky, you can see Jupiter, Saturn, and Mercury at the end of the month. To view this setup you'll need an unobstructed ocean-like view of the horizon.

The Vesta asteroid will be visible in the tail of Leo and be seen with binoculars.

Moon phases:

  • Last Quarter February 4

  • New Moon February 11

  • First Quarter February 19

  • Full Moon February 27
