NHC Issues Special Tropical Weather Outlook

It's still a bit early but there is the potential for some tropical development in the Atlantic.

While nothing significant is currently ongoing, an area of low pressure is expected to develop this weekend northeast of the Bahamas.

Once the low develops, environmental conditions appear conducive for this system to acquire some subtropical characteristics through Sunday.

Sea surface temperatures in the area are near 25 degrees. The ECMWF model also agrees with the analysis from the National Hurricane Center with the probability of tropical cyclone formation.

There is a 50 percent chance of a tropical cyclone forming over the next five days.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June 1 and runs to November 30. The first named storm of the year will be Arthur.
