The famous Perseid meteor shower takes place later this week. It will peak on Friday and Saturday.

If you are hoping to catch a spectacular show, you might be out of luck. Even if the skies are clear, the shower will coincide with a full moon, making it difficult to see.

The Perseids will be active until August 23 so there will be a chance to catch a view until then, weather permitting.

The Perseids meteor shower is associated with the comet Swift–Tuttle.

NASA says that in an average year, you can expect to see up to 100 meteors per hour.
