Severe Weather Roars Across Ontario #ONstorm

Friday brought yet another hot, humid, and stormy day to many areas in Ontario.

There was heavy rain, strong winds, and even the possibility of a landspout.

Here is a summary of weather events.

Rainfall totals:

  • Mount Brydges: 153.9 mm

  • Appin: 144.8 mm

  • Port Burwell: 94.5 mm

  • Blenheim: 88.9 mm

  • Windsor: 80.8 mm

  • La Salle: 80 mm

  • Komoka: 78.7 mm

  • Chatham-Kent: 74.9 mm

  • Duart: 73.7 mm

  • Strathroy: 62.7 mm

  • Markdale: 51.3 mm

  • Ridgetown: 62.0 mm

  • Mount Forest: 54.0 mm

Strong winds were also recorded. In Burlington, there was a wind gust of 124 km/h. There were reports of trees down in Hamilton, Melancthon, Greenway, Huron Park, and Hawkesbury.

Some minor wind damage such as power lines down and roof shingles and signposts were blown over was also reported.

There may have been a landspout in the Milton area. Reports were received from Lake Nipissing, Eastern Lake Erie and the Niagara Region, along with Centreton and Almonte.
