16 killed in northern India after taking selfie in thunderstorm


At least 16 people were killed and several others were injured in Jaipur in northern India after taking selfies in the rain and getting struck by lightning on Sunday.


The incident happened on the top of a watchtower.


When the incident happened there were about 27 people on the tower.


Most of the victims were young.


In India, lightning kills about 2,000 people a year.


In Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada statistics state that there are between two and three lightning-related deaths and 180 lightning-related injuries each year.
