7.5 Magnitude Earthquake Struck off the Coast of Russia

A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia, near Severo-Kuril'sk on Wednesday.

Meteorological officials in Japan issued no alerts, although they said there might be slight tidal changes.

The earthquake was at a depth of 56 km and prompted a tsunami watch for Hawaii that was later cancelled. When the watch was cancelled, only small sea-level changes were possible.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
