Activity increasing in the Atlantic basin

The Atlantic basin appears to be waking up with three areas that the National Hurricane Center in Miami, FL is watching.

The first is an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Currently, environmental conditions appear conducive for some gradual development and a tropical depression could form during the next several days.

An area of low pressure southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This feature has a small window for development and could form by this weekend before entering an area that would inhibit any development.

Finally, a low is expected to form in the central or western Gulf of Mexico next week. Some slow development is possible as it moves westward and approaches the western Gulf of Mexico coastline by the middle of next week.
