December Astronomy Highlights
This month Jupiter will be visible. Saturn will be the evening star in the southern sky.
The Geminids Meteor Shower peaks on the 13, the meteors from this shower are slow moving. In recent years there have been 120 to 160 meteors per hour visible under optimal conditions.
On December 17, the Moon will sit below Saturn and will move to meet Jupiter on December 21 and 22.
The Winter Solstice arrives on December 21 at 10: p.m. EST. The shortest day of the year. After the 21, the days begin to get longer.
