The groundhogs have spoken and they are divided!

Wiarton Willie in Ontario did not see his shadow meaning an early spring. Alberta's Balzac Billy seems to agree.

Shubenacadie Sam, Punxsutawney Phil, La Marmotte, and Manitoba Merv all say their shadows meaning we are in for six more weeks of winter.

According to tradition, if a groundhog comes out of its hole on Groundhog Day and sees its shadow, it gets scared and runs back into its burrow, predicting six more weeks of winter weather. But if the groundhog does not see its shadow it means an early spring.
