Heatwave for BC Interior


An upper-level low that brought rain, thunderstorms and cooler temperatures will depart tomorrow, being replaced by a prolonged heatwave starting this weekend in the Interior.


Temperatures will climb to near 30 on Saturday then rise 5 degrees more Sunday to give highs of 34, the hottest day will be on Monday where temperatures will hit 36 to 38.


Before cooling down back to 31 to 34 for Tuesday and Wednesday.


On average, Kamloops sees 38 days a year of 30 degrees with 6 to 8 of those days over 35 and at least 2 days where it gets in the 40's.


So far this summer temperatures have been running on average and only recorded 20 days of 30 degrees or higher, and have yet to reach 35 or higher.


The heat is expected to last through the end of the month.
