Heavy rain expected along the south coast of Newfoundland

The south coast of Newfoundland is in for a soaking of rain.

A low will push across Atlantic Canada Thursday through Saturday morning. While all of Atlantic Canada will see rainfall, heavy rain and strong winds are expected along the south coast of Newfoundland.

Total rainfall of 30 to 70 mm is expected. This rain has the potential to cause flooding and damage to roads.

The other threat is strong winds. Winds will gust to 70 km/h for most areas. Gusts to 90 km/h are possible in the Wreckhouse area.

Nova Scotia will also see some periods of heavier rain but amounts should be limited to 25 mm.
