Heavy rain recorded in western and southern Newfoundland


Parts of western and southern Newfoundland received heavy rain on Thursday from a slow-moving low pressure system. While all of the Island saw rain, the most significant amounts were recorded on the west and south coast.


Below is a summary of rainfall amounts from Environment and Climate Change Canada.


Rainfall totals:

  • Cormack: 70.6 mm

  • Wreckhouse: 65.0 mm

  • Port aux Basques: 55.5 mm

  • La Scie: 54.6 mm

  • Burgeo: 53.6 mm

  • Stephenville Airport: 53.2 mm

  • Rocky Harbour: 50.6 mm

  • Deer Lake Airport: 49.6 mm
