Heavy Snow and Strong Winds Possible for NS & NL Later This Week

An unimpressive area of low pressure that is currently located in the western United States could deliver a blast of winter weather to portions of Atlantic Canada later this week.

The low is expected to intensify as it moves over Atlantic Canada.

At this time, it looks like the low will bring some snow to Nova Scotia on Thursday night and snow is expected to the Avalon and Burin Peninsula along with portions of central Newfoundland on Friday.

Mixed precipitation looks like it will remain offshore.

Areas receiving the heavy snow will also see strong winds. Gusts over 100 km/h are possible.

While there are still a couple of days to watch the track of the low, it could be significant amounts of snow that falls.

It is worth noting that even a slight shift in the storm's track could significantly alter snowfall amounts.
