Hole in the Ozone Layer is Getting Smaller
There is some good news about our ozone layer. The hole over Antarctica is the smallest its been in about 30 years.
It is expected that the reason is due to sudden warming at high altitudes.
But scientists say just one year is no reason for celebration. We would need to see this trend continue to know of the Montreal Protocol is working.
The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer is an international treaty designed to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production of numerous substances that are responsible for ozone depletion.
The ozone layer helps filter out ultraviolet radiation from the sun.
