Influenza cases rising across Canada


The number of influenza cases in Canada is increasing indicating the start of influenza season.


The percentage of tests positive for influenza was 7.5 per cent and a total of 2,143 laboratory detections were conducted.


Influenza activity has crossed the seasonal threshold, the number of infections is average for this time of year according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. Most cases are influenza A and influenza B.


Alberta is the province hardest hit where activity is widespread across most of the province.
