Large Asteroid Will Come Close to Earth Next Month
On April 29 a large asteroid will come close to Earth, at least from a space perspective.
The asteroid, known as 52768 (1998 OR2), is just over 4 kilometres wide.
It is expected to come within 6,290,589.343 kilometres of Earth. For reference, the Moon is 384,400 km away from Earth.
The asteroid was first spotted in 1998.
It is one in a series of large asteroids that passes near our planet.
If it were to hit Earth, it could have a cataclysmic impact according to NASA.
NASA is confident that the asteroid won't hit Earth.
