Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii is erupting

The Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii is erupting.

The volcano has shown elevated signs of unrest since 2019. On Sunday an eruption began at the volcano's summit.

In the rift zone, three fissures were observed. One of the fissures continues to feed lava flows that remain at approximately 3,000 metres in elevation and over 16 km from Saddle Road.

Lava was seen shooting up to 60 metres in the air.

Currently, there is no risk to property.
