Newfoundland Accesses Storm Aftermath #nlwx #nltraffic

It will take days to clean up what it described as the worst storm to ever strike eastern Newfoundland.

States of emergency remain in place in St. John's, Mount Pearl, Conception Bay South, Paradise, Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s and Torbay.

This morning, the Provincial Government is holding an emergency meeting to discuss how to deal with the storm.

Warnings are starting to come to an end and precipitation has since moved offshore. Strong winds and storm surge remain.

As of this morning, there are still thousands of people without power on the Avalon, Burin, Bonavista Peninsula, and the northern coastal areas.

Newfoundland power says severe weather conditions and impassable roads are currently preventing crews from safely accessing storm-related outage areas.

In the Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro area, there are outages in Gaultois and Fogo, Island Harbour, Joe Batts Arm, and Seldom Come By.

Marine Atlantic will set sail at 3:00 pm today before another delay is expected on Sunday and Monday.
