The Atlantic Hurricane season might be a couple of weeks away but there is an area of low pressure located over the north-central Gulf of Mexico that is producing disorganized thunderstorms and gusty winds.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami, FL is monitoring the system.
The system is not likely to develop into a tropical storm but will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the central Gulf Coast and will spread across the southeast U.S. during the next day or so.
The first storm this year will be Alex.
