Poor Air Quality Across Yukon

The entire territory of Yukon is under a special air quality statement.

The reason for the advisory is due to high or increasing concentrations of wildfire smoke.

Wildfires in Alaska and central Yukon are causing increased concentrations of smoke throughout the territory. Local conditions may also affect the concentration of smoke in each community. Please note that there is no immediate wildfire threat to any Yukon communities.

So far this year there have been 68,358 hectares burned. There have been 50 fires this year. Presently 22 remain active.
