Snow and strong wind in western Alberta

Western sections of Alberta are continuing to experience severe weather with heavy snow and strong winds impacting the region.

There are winter storm warnings in effect for both Banff and Jasper National Parks. Snowfall amounts of 25 cm are possible combined with winds gusting to 70 km/h. The snow combined with strong winds will result in reduced visibility in blowing snow.

The snow is expected to taper off by Friday morning.

Light snow will fall across northern Alberta today with about 5 centimetres expected.

Strong winds are expected to continue across the Alberta Foothills today. Gusts up to 100 km/h are expected. Winds are expected to weaken this evening.
