Snow Squalls Expected in Western NL and on Cape Breton Island


Snow squalls are expected to develop along the west coast of Newfoundland today, tonight, and potentially on Saturday.


At this time, no significant accumulation is expected in most areas.


However, there are snow squall watches in effect for Gros Morne and Parson's Pond - Hawke's Bay.


In these areas, snowfall amounts of 25 cm are possible over higher terrain.


Snow squalls can cause whiteout conditions.


In the Corner Brook area, 5 to 10 cm are expected through Saturday.


For Inverness County in Nova SCotia snow squalsl are also possible.


There is a snow squall watch in place for Inverness County - Mabou and north, Inverness County - south of Mabou, and Victoria County.

In those areas, snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm are expected.
