Strong Earthquake in South Sandwich Islands Region


There has been a 6.1 magnitude earthquake on Saturday afternoon in the South Sandwich Islands region.


The earthquake was centred 2544.4 km east of Tolhuin, Argentina at a depth of 16 km.


As a result of the earthquake, there was no tsunami threat.


No injuries or damage are expected.
