Strong Winter Storm Likely for Parts of NL
Portions of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia are going to get hammered by snow, which in some areas will be very heavy.
An area of low pressure coming off the Rocky Mountains of the United States will be unimpressive as it moves through Southern Ontario and the Northeastern United States. Once it reaches Nova Scotia however, it will undergo a period of rapid intensification.
The storm will arrive in Nova Scotia tomorrow afternoon and will spread snow across much of the province. There is a chance of a rain/snow mix along the southern coastal sections of Nova Scotia.
Snow will arrive in southern Newfoundland overnight on Thursday. Heavy snow will engulf most of the Island except for the west coast and Northern Peninsula. There is a risk of some rain in the Cape Race area.
Strong winds will also be an issue too. The strong winds will linger through Saturday.
