The Sky Was Falling - Space Debris Falls Back to Earth

On Monday one of the largest uncontrolled pieces of space debris fell to Earth.

It passed over Los Angeles and then New York City before landing in the open Atlantic Ocean.

Those attempting to track the debris did not know where it would fall.

It came from the Long March-5B rocket launched by China on May 5th. It weighed nearly 18 tonnes and it is the fourth biggest piece of space debris ever.

Dense pieces could have survived reentry and crash to Earth.

The Department of Defense confirmed the reentry of the rocket.
