Tornadoes Destroy Homes in Texas and Oklahoma

A severe weather outbreak is continuing across parts of the United States.


Damage is widespread after a series of tornadoes touched down.


There are reports of widespread damage in San Angelo and Ballinger, Texas. Tornadoes were also reported in Abilene, Texas and Geronimo, Oklahoma.


On Saturday afternoon 77,000 homes and businesses in Texas were without power.


Images of structural damage to buildings, damaged utility poles, and damage to several homes were shared on social media from north-central Texas to eastern Oklahoma.


There were several reports of injuries, there were no deaths.




On Sunday thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts and hail are expected across portions of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley area and east across the Appalachians. Less widespread severe risk will be possible across the Mid and Lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys during the day, and possibly evolving over the southern High Plains late in the period.


Severe weather is expected on Monday also.
