Tropical Depression Surigae prompts tropical storm warnings


Tropical Depression Surigae has prompted tropical storm watches and warnings for the Federated States of Micronesia.


A tropical storm warning is now in effect for Ngulu in Yap State. Tropical storm winds of at least 39 mph are expected later this morning.


A tropical storm watch remains in effect for Yap State. Tropical storm force winds are possible later today through Thursday.


As of the last update, the maximum sustained winds were at 35 mph. The storm is expected to intensify later today and is expected to become a tropical storm by this afternoon. As we head through the latter half of the week, further intensification is expected as the storm moves into the Philippine Sea.
