Tsunami fears after large earthquake in Japan

Japan Meteorological Agency

A magnitude 7.3 earthquake occurred off the eastern coast of Japan off the coast of the Fukushima Prefecture.

The earthquake prompted the Japan Meteorological Agency to issue a tsunami advisory.

A tsunami of one metre has hit the area.

More than two million homes in Tokyo have lost power due to the earthquake.

The earthquake was originally measured as a magnitude 6.4 but was upgraded to a 7.3. It was at a depth of 63 km and was centred 57.2 km east-northeast of Namie, Japan.

This is a developing story.
