This is our three-level system that shows how the weather will impact travel, daily routines, and safety.

Minor Impact

Meaning: Limited disruption.

 

Typical Conditions: Light rain, flurries, breezy conditions.

 

Impacts:

  • Minimal effect on travel

  • Outdoor plans may be slightly affected

 

Message:
“Minor impacts—little disruption expected.”

Moderate Impact

Meaning: Noticeable disruption.

 

Typical Conditions: Steady snow, freezing rain, heavy rain, strong winds.

 

Impacts:

  • Slower or difficult travel

  • Reduced visibility or slippery roads

  • Some delays or cancellations possible

 

Public Message:
“Moderate impacts—plan ahead and allow extra time.”

Major Impact

Meaning: Significant or dangerous conditions.

 

Typical Conditions: Heavy snow, ice storms, damaging winds, flooding rain.

 

Impacts:

  • Hazardous or unsafe travel

  • Closures and widespread disruptions likely

  • Risk to safety and infrastructure

 

Public Message:
