At least 17 people are dead after a landslide in the northwest Democratic Republic of Congo. The death toll could rise as rescue efforts continue.

Heavy rain slammed the region on Sunday and the victims were in homes at the bottom of a mountain in the town of Lisal.

Back in April, 16 people died in landslides in another region of the country.

More rain is expected in Lisal on Thursday and light rain is expected for most of the week in Kinshasa.
