18 Dead After Tornadoes Rip Through Southeastern U.S.


At least 18 people have been killed following a deadly day of tornadoes in the southeastern United States.

On Easter Sunday there were reports of 54 tornadoes, 454 reports of damaging winds, and 39 reports of large hail.


Deaths were reported in Georgia, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

Other states such as Louisiana and Alabama sustained significant damage. Hundreds of homes were damaged, countless trees were uprooted, there were also reports of flooding and mudslides.

Overnight 750,000 people lost power in 10 states.

In our thunderstorm outlook, we outline a risk of severe thunderstorms from southeast Virginia to north Florida. The severe weather threat shifts northward from northern Virginia/Maryland into Pennsylvania tonight.
