30 People Killed in Winter Storms in Texas


Over 30 people have died in back to back winter storms that tore across Texas. The causes of death ranged from carbon monoxide poisoning to car accidents, to falls, and exposure.


Power outages continue for many areas with over 400,000 still without power as of Thursday evening according to poweroutage.us.


Several areas including the City of Austin and Houston remain under boil water advisories. There have also been widespread water outages.


Photos circulated on social media showing icicles forming inside buildings and treacherous road conditions.


Several grocery stores have had their shelves emptied.


Oil refineries have been hit hard as well with gasoline prices expected to rise 10 to 20 cents a gallon in the coming days.


The good news is that temperatures are expected to moderate somewhat on Saturday across Texas.
