4 Maps You Need for the next Atlantic Storm




The calendar may say its spring but that means very little in Atlantic Canada as yet another area of low pressure will bring another mixed bag of weather to the region.


Snow will push into coastal Nova Scotia this afternoon and is expected to continue overnight. There will be a transition to ice pellets over Cape Breton Island and areas north of Halifax and north of Pictou County.


Overnight the snow takes aim at Newfoundland. Snow will quickly change to rain across the Avalon and South coast. Central Newfoundland will transition to ice pellets then to rain. Most of the west coast will also transition to rain with the risk of ice pellets. The Northern Peninsula and Labrador will remain as snow.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled the North Sydney to Port aux Basques crossing scheduled for 11:15 pm is now scheduled to depart Friday at 11:45 am. The Port aux Basques to North Sydney crossing that was scheduled for today at 11:45 pm is now scheduled to depart Friday at 11:45 am.
