There has been a 5.1 magnitude earthquake centred 7 km southeast of Ojai, California.

The earthquake was at a depth of 14.6 km. It occurred as the area is being pounded by Hilary.

California is no stranger to earthquakes and there have been no immediate reports of damage and a tsunami is not expected.

There have been nine aftershocks including a magnitude 3.7.
