6.1 magnitude near Japan

There was a 6.1 magnitude near the Volcano Islands in the Japan region.

The earthquake occurred on Monday at 10:19 p.m. local time and was at a depth of 249 kilometres.

It was located 818.7 km north-northwest of Saipan, in the Northern Mariana Islands.

Japan's Meteorological Agency said there were no tsunami warnings or advisories issued as a result of the earthquake.
