Analysis of Southern Ontario Storm


A large low will move across Southern Ontario tomorrow and Thursday.


Wednesday

On Wednesday afternoon southwestern Ontario will receive freezing rain. The freezing rain will last into Thursday morning. Freezing rain accumulations could receive 5 to 10 mm.


From Huron-Perth through the Greater Toronto Area to Niagara will see snow mixed with ice pellets on Wednesday evening. Snow and ice pellet amounts of 5 to 15 cm are possible. There is a risk of freezing rain.


From Grey Bruce across Barrie to the Lake Ontario shore east of Toronto snow is expected to start on Wednesday evening. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are possible by Wednesday midnight.


Thursday

Southwestern Ontario will see freezing rain gradually end in the morning and afternoon. Another 5 to 10 mm of freezing rain is possible.


Ice pellets mixed with freezing rain or snow will continue into Thursday morning across Huron-Perth through the Greater Toronto Area to Kingston. Another 5 cm is likely.


Snow will continue all day across the Grey-Bruce area east across Barrie and Muskoka to Eastern Ontario including Cornwall. 10 to 20 cm is possible by the evening.


Friday

Additionally on Friday snow squalls will be possible for areas such as London, Goderich and Kincardine. Up to 10 cm is possible.
