An area of low pressure will pass east of the Avalon Peninsula overnight and will bring snow to the area, with the heaviest snow expected to fall over the eastern half of the Avalon Peninsula.

St. John's and southeastern Avalon will likely see 15 to 20 cm of snow beginning this afternoon. By Saturday afternoon, the snow should change to rain.

The Baccalieu Trail and the southwestern Avalon will also see snow, with only about 10 to 15 cm expected.

Winds will gust to about 60 km/h.
