Significant snowfall, ice pellets and freezing rain are expected across Newfoundland.
Parts of eastern and central Newfoundland will see a variety of weather from Tuesday evening until Thursday morning.
Precipitation will start as snow on Tuesday evening and then change to ice pellets and freezing rain on Tuesday night or Wednesday. Some areas will see 15 to 25 cm of snow, and 10 to 20 mm of freezing rain is possible.
Over the Avalon and Bonavista Peninsulas, showers are expected on Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon, the rain will change to freezing rain, and the freezing rain will last through Tuesday night and into Wednesday afternoon.
With the extended period of freezing rain, 10 to 20 mm or more could fall.
This storm will likely result in slippery and hazardous travel or walking conditions. We anticipate ice buildup on trees and utility infrastructure that may cause damage or outages.
