Another stormy day ahead for Atlantic Canada

Stormy weather is still occurring across parts of Atlantic Canada with more on the way.

New Brunswick

Freezing rain is expected across southern and central New Brunswick today through Monday morning. There is a risk of significant ice accretion.

Northern New Brunswick could see a long-duration freezing rain event Monday and Tuesday. Precipitation is expected to fall as ice pellets and freezing rain. A changeover to rain is expected late in the day Monday across parts of New Brunswick. Uncertainty remains in how far north the warm air will push.

Nova Scotia

Heavy rain will continue for counties along the Atlantic coast from Digby to northern Cape Breton Island until Monday evening. Rainfall amounts of 25 to 45 is possible.

Freezing rain will be a concern across all of Nova Scotia except for southeastern Cape Breton Island. The freezing rain will end this afternoon or evening.

Newfoundland

Severe weather is continuing across Newfoundland today.

For the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas, rain will be the order of the day with 60 to 90 mm expected between now and Monday morning. Flooding is possible. Rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 mm is expected for the Burgeo and Connaigre area.

Freezing rain is expected to start over the course of the day along the south coast. 15 to 30 mm of freezing rain is possible.

On Monday freezing rain is expected across central and western Newfoundland and the Great Northern Peninsula with 5 to 10 mm possible.

Winds are an issue as well. Overnight tonight to near midnight Monday night winds in the Wreckhouse area are expected to gust to 120 km/h. Gusts between 100 and 120 km/h are expected from Monday morning until after midnight Monday night.

Across southeastern Labrador from Red Bay to Rigolet and west to Upper Lake Melville, a long-duration freezing rain event is expected from Monday evening through Tuesday.
