Atlantic Basin Quiet for Now
The Atlantic Tropical Basin remains quiet for the time being. There is only one feature that forecasters are monitoring.
There is a tropical wave several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.
As of now, it is producing a few showers and thunderstorms.
Some slight development of this system is possible during the next couple of days while it moves slowly westward. After that time, the National Hurricane Center says that environmental conditions are expected to become less conducive for development.
A couple of days ago NOAA predicted an "extremely active" Hurricane Season.
