Atlantic Hurricane Season ends on a quiet note

Atlantic Hurricane Season ended on a quiet note on Wednesday.


There were 16 total storms with the first storm, Tropical Storm Alex, forming on June 5. The last storm, Hurricane Nicole, dissipated on November 11.


The strongest storm this year was Hurricane Fiona which had maximum winds of 215 km/h and a minimum pressure of 932 millibars.


Of the 16 depressions that formed, 14 became tropical storms, and of those eight became hurricanes. Two of those hurricanes became major hurricanes.


This year there were at least 337 fatalities and all combined storms caused 54.02 billion USD in damage.
