August astronomy highlights


This month there will be several features to see in the night sky.


Venus will be visible in the evening twilight. On August 11th, Venus will be below the crescent moon.


On the 11th and 12th is the Perseid Meteor Shower. The Perseids are a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift–Tuttle.


Jupiter will be below the moon on August 21st and just above the moon on the 20th is Saturn.
