Tropical Storm Bertha is near the coast of Louisiana. This morning, a tropical storm warning is in effect for the Gulf Coast from the Terrebonne/Lafourche Parish line, Louisiana, to Sargent, Texas.

Bertha is moving toward the west near 20 km/h. A generally westward motion is expected through tonight, followed by a turn toward the west-southwest on Friday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 75 km/h with higher gusts. Bertha is expected to dissipate inland over Texas by tonight or Friday.

The water could reach 1 to 3 feet above ground from Port Bolivar, Texas to the Mouth of the Mississippi River, Louisiana.

Bertha is expected to produce total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches with isolated totals to 6 inches through tonight along the Texas Gulf Coast and South Texas.

Swells generated by Bertha will continue spreading westward along the northern and northwestern Gulf Coast. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
