Blowing Snow Results in School Closures in Western Newfoundland #nlwx

Western Newfoundland is contending with some snow and blowing snow this morning which have prompted school closures.

Today snow is expected with the possibility of snow squalls. Amounts could range between 5 and 15 centimetres. Winds will also gust to 70 km/h along parts of the coast.

Snow combined with strong winds will result in reduced visibility in blowing snow.

Travel is not recommended south of Stephenville or from Wiltondale to Cow Head.

Blowing snow advisories remain in effect for Bay St. George, Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity, Churchill Falls and vicinity, Churchill Valley, Corner Brook and vicinity, Gros Morne, Labrador City and Wabush, Parson's Pond - Hawke's Bay, and Port Saunders and the Straits.

There is a winter storm warning in effect for Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair.
