Colorado Low to Impact Ontario & Quebec


On Sunday and Monday, a low is expected to intensify over Ontario and southern Quebec. The low will bring snow, rain, mixed precipitation and strong winds.


Northern Ontario

Snow is expected to begin Sunday afternoon for areas near Thunder Bay and areas east of Lake Superior towards the Quebec border.


Snowfall amounts of 15-25 cm with local blowing snow are expected near Thunder Bay. 10 cm is possible for areas east of Lake Superior.


There will also be strong winds causing reduced visibility and widespread blowing snow.


Areas east of Georgian Bay towards the Quebec border including North Bay will see snow on Sunday afternoon. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are expected by Monday morning.


There is the potential for freezing rain on Sunday night.


Southern Ontario

Freezing rain is expected for areas near the Ottawa River and across eastern sections of central Ontario. Amounts of 2 to 4 mm are possible. There could be some power outages.


There is a risk for freezing rain Sunday night into Monday morning across northern areas of southwestern Ontario eastward into Quebec.


Across southwestern Ontario heavy rain is expected. There is the potential for 20 to 40 mm of rain on Sunday. There could be localized flooding.


Southern Quebec

Precipitation will push into western sections of Quebec late on Sunday and will arrive across eastern areas on Monday morning. Precipitation will begin as snow and will change to rain.


There could be freezing rain during the transition.


Areas north of the St. Lawrence River will see the most snow where 25 cm is possible.


There will also be strong winds causing reduced visibility and widespread blowing snow.
