On Monday evening there was a 6.1 magnitude earthquake 66.5 km southwest of Sand Point, Alaska.

The earthquake struck at a depth of 41 km at 9:03 pm local time.

This is the latest in a series of earthquakes to hit the region. There were several earthquakes last week, one of which prompted a tsunami warning.

Alaska is located within the Pacific Rim of Fire where earthquakes are common.
