Earthquake Near Alaska



On Monday evening there was a 6.1 magnitude earthquake 66.5 km southwest of Sand Point, Alaska.


The earthquake struck at a depth of 41 km at 9:03 pm local time.


This is the latest in a series of earthquakes to hit the region. There were several earthquakes last week, one of which prompted a tsunami warning.


Alaska is located within the Pacific Rim of Fire where earthquakes are common.
